Overview

The Echo Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care, and workflows in the echocardiography laboratory. Performs a full range of cardiac diagnostic testing and assists physicians and sonographers in providing high-quality echocardiographic exams.

This role qualifies for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance if moving 50+ miles!

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Performs routine and complex echocardiographic imaging following departmental guidelines.
• Ensures imaging quality by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and alignment. Reviews patient data for accuracy and completeness.
• Documents procedures accurately and completely.
• Cross-trains in other divisions of CV Services.

Department Specific Job Functions

• Administers contrast when needed and not contraindicated.
• Completes documentation of studies and charges in Epic, and preliminary info in Xcelera for physician review.
• Participates in call rotations during weekdays and weekends with team members.
• Provides compassionate care and quality studies to patients.
• Performs all types of Echo testing (Exercise Stress, Dobutamine stress, Echos, Pediatric Echos, Transesophageal Echos) promptly.
• Seeks to expand knowledge in all aspects of Echo through constructive learning and teaching.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Sonography or equivalent experience in lieu of education.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• Reg. Diagnostic Cardiac Sono (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience.

Skills

• Positive attitude and willingness to assess and improve work environment.
• Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks while managing patient flow.
