Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in the Puget Sound region is seeking an Echo Tech/Sonographer to perform diagnostic echocardiography and assist in cardiovascular care. You will operate ultrasound equipment to capture cardiac images and data, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

The role requires knowledge of cardiac anatomy, strong technical skills, and effective communication with the care team. Certification requirements include ARDMS/CCI and BLS to be completed on hire.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited diagnostic ultrasound/echo sonography program demonstrating requisite job knowledge.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI) upon hire or listed alternative credentials.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer variants upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic echocardiography and ultrasound procedures per physician orders to obtain high-quality cardiac images.
  • Prepare and educate patients, explain procedures, review histories, ensure comfort and safety.
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment.
  • Monitor patient condition, respond to emergent situations, and document findings.
  • Review and maintain clinical data and diagnostic records to support interpretation.
  • Support clinic operations including scheduling, records management, and communication with care teams.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Echo Tech/Sonographer, you will perform diagnostic echocardiography procedures to assist in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions.

Every day you will operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality cardiac images and data, ensuring patient comfort and performing a range of echocardiographic studies.

To be successful, you will possess a strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, proficient technical skills, and effective communication abilities to provide exceptional diagnostic services.

  • Perform diagnostic echocardiography and ultrasound procedures according to physician orders and departmental protocols to obtain high-quality cardiac images for accurate diagnosis.
  • Prepare and educate patients by explaining procedures, reviewing medical histories, ensuring comfort and safety, and providing compassionate care throughout the examination.
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with manufacturer and departmental standards.
  • Monitor patient condition during procedures, respond appropriately to emergent situations, communicate significant findings to the care team, and document accurate patient information.
  • Review, compile, and maintain clinical data and diagnostic records to support timely physician interpretation and quality patient care.
  • Support clinic operations through scheduling, patient record management, supply inventory, and effective communication with patients, providers, and multidisciplinary team members while delivering culturally competent care.

  • Graduation from an accredited diagnostic ultrasound/echo sonography program that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilitie, upon hire and
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echo, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Fetal Echo, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Pediatric Echo, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Fetal Echo, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
Preferred
  • One year of post-graduate experience in cardiac ultrasound and/or demonstrated high degree of proficiency, knowledge, and acuity in the field of diagnostics or ultrasound
