The Echo Technician II performs ultrasound examinations of the heart and related vessels, including 2D and M-Mode echocardiography, color-flow Doppler studies (pulsed and continuous), stress echo, and transesophageal echo. These procedures are performed on adults, children, and neonates, following department and Medical Center standards, and are interpreted by a qualified physician.

- Prepares studies for physician interpretation, including accurate calculation of cardiac structures.
- Completes all paperwork accurately and maintains daily logs of studies.
- Initiates emergency measures such as Code Blue as per hospital policies.
- Assigns workload and breaks to other technicians.
- Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes TEE probes according to policy.
- Maintains medication security, restricting access to authorized personnel.
- Assumes on-call responsibilities, responding within 30 minutes as assigned.
- Transports patients and equipment as necessary.
- Evaluates and initiates equipment maintenance, repairs, and procurement.
- Manages inventory and supplies.
- Maintains a safe working and patient environment.
- Uses effective communication and problem-solving skills in all interactions.
- Assists in training and orienting new staff and students.
- Participates in department meetings, education, and policy reviews.
- Engages in performance improvement activities as assigned.

Additional Information
Requires echocardiography training with RDCS or RCS certification or eligibility, and/or certification from an accredited echocardiography program.
Experience: 2 years as an Echo Tech in a hospital setting.
License/Certification: Graduate of echocardiography program with RDMS or RDMS eligibility; BCLS or ACLS certification.
Compensation Range
$43.30 - $68.98 per hour
