St. Joseph’s Health in Totowa, NJ, seeks an echocardiography technician to perform 2D, color flow, and Doppler studies under minimal supervision within the Cardiology department. The role includes identifying abnormalities, preparing patient records, and maintaining sterile equipment.

Under the direction of Cardiologists perform 2D, color fl ow, and Doppler echocardiograms at a technical level not requiring supervision. Locates and identifies any anomalies of disease or injury. Performs imaging and non-imaging cardiovascular evaluations and transesophageal echocardiography. Recognizes abnormal rhythms and notifies physician. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and workspace. Prepares patient records for review and interpretation.
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion from a Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied health Education Programs, bachelor's degree preferred.
For employees assigned to provide services within the Cardiology Department in Totowa, which focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of heart and blood vessel disorders, flexibility and availability are required based on patient volume, staffing needs, and operational demands. Employees may be required to provide support across applicable outpatient offices, clinical practices, or other locations within the healthcare system as needed to support Cardiology services.
