Job summary

Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Louisiana seeks an Ultrasound Tech 1 to perform diagnostic sonographic examinations and to assist under supervision. You will operate ultrasonic equipment to locate and record data, ensure patient safety, and adhere to department policies.

The role requires graduation from an accredited sonography program, ARDMS/CCI eligibility, and BLS certification. You will provide pre and post-education to patients and families, and report to the Supervisor or Manager.

Qualifications

The Ultrasound Tech 1 performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical physiological, pathological, and anatomical data. Working under the guidance of CT Tech 2 or above produces Ultrasound images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. The ultrasound technologist monitors and ensures safety of patient and staff. Performs patient screening by using established protocols. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and in all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Reports to Supervisor or Manager.

• Refers to physician\'s orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.
• Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
• Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
• Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
• Coordinates Ultrasound schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
• Patient/General Safety
• Corrects and reports accidents, incidents and safety hazards.
• Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
• Is aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
• Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.
• Adheres to infection control practices.
• Equipment Maintenance
• Routinely cleans equipment and probes and reports problems to service.
• Has service performed monthly PM\'s on equipment.
• Documentation/Communication
• Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams
• Documents all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials,
• Other duties as assigned.
• Is available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the Ultrasound Department
• Assist in other areas of the department as workload permits.
• Keeps areas well stocked at all times.

Qualifications

Experience: Graduate from an accredited school of Sonography or completion of an Ultrasound program.

License: Board eligible American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography, ARDMS and/or CCI, Basic Life Support, BLS-HCP
