Echovascular Sonographer (Echo Tech) – PRN

An Echo Tech is responsible for performing non-invasive cardiovascular ultrasound studies to include echo, stress echo, and vascular testing. Communicates preliminary results to the patient when authorized by the physician.

Job Duties:

  • Reviews, collects, and evaluates relevant clinical data.
  • Identifies patient’s requirements relative to their age specific needs. Explains test procedure to patient and family members present.
  • Performs cardiac imaging procedures listed below according to established protocols: pulsed, continuous wave, 2D echocardiography exercise echocardiography, pharmacological exercise echocardiography
  • Performs vascular imaging procedures listed below according to established protocols: carotids, upper and lower venous Doppler, upper and lower arterial Doppler, segmental pressures upper and lower visceral doppler
  • Assist with VNUS and/or Laser and Phlebectomy procedures.
  • Assess patient, their need and ability to tolerate procedure.
  • Implements alternative methods or adjusts controls to obtain optimal views.
  • Takes appropriate actions during patient emergency situations and insures patient safety at all times.
  • Provides technical assistance to physician as required. Prepares echo/vascular report for interpreting physician making all necessary calculations and notations.
  • Checks and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on echocardiography/vascular equipment.
  • Coordinates the clinical activities on a designated shift, as required.
  • Documents all pertinent data on the patient’s medical record following completion of any service.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and procedure modalities as performed on patient’s of varying ages.
