This on-site position supports the Cardiology EKG team with emphasis on accuracy, patient education, and timely reporting. The Echo Tech will independently perform transthoracic and stress echocardiograms, assist during procedures, and maintain equipment and safety

JOB DESCRIPTION

RDCS or ARDMS Certification in Cardiac Sonography.
Current BLS required.
ACLS preferred.
Ability to calculate complex formulas involving ratios and percentages using the metric system.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulation.
Ability to write clearly and legibly.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, patients, staff members, vendors, and the general public.
Ability to explain complex concepts in a calm and clear manner.
Ability to analyze and problem solve, taking into consideration a wide variety of variables
Requires ability to continually change priorities in response to changing patient care, hospital needs and work in an environment of constant interruptions. Infrequent lifting of 40-50lbs, or pushing up to 150lbs. Frequent sitting, standing and walking, Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, and infrequent lifting of greater than 50 pounds. Ability to travel to other work locations, as needed.

Work at a technical level, using echocardiography ultrasound equipment to produce high quality test results.
Assist cardiologists in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms.
Independently perform transthoracic and stress echocardiograms on adult and geriatric patients.
Monitor and identify patient care needs in adult and geriatric patients and respond appropriately.
Provide patient education at an appropriate level for each patient.
Maintain open communication with the cardiologists and other staff as needed.
Perform routine cleaning and quality checks on echocardiography equipment.
Maintain an orderly and clean work area.
Complete test results, assuring quality standards are achieved, and provide to cardiologist in a timely manner.
Follow safety procedures in compliance with OSHA and state health department guidelines.
Perform work in compliance with Echocardiography Department policies and protocols.
