Job Description

The Ultrasound Tech provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper patient identification, verify orders, and prepare patients for exams. Use proper imaging techniques to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality diagnostic exams. Demonstrate proficiency in performing exams on all age groups following ACR guidelines and using all clinical equipment within the department.
  • Complete and annotate medically acceptable exams, following ACR guidelines to produce maximum diagnostic information efficiently.
  • Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, and charging. Obtain necessary consents, document events, maintain quality control, and report equipment issues.
  • Practice safety measures, including body substance protection, equipment cleaning, sterile techniques, and proper documentation of all procedures and images.
Minimum Qualifications
  • ARRT or ARDMS Registry, including at least one registry beyond physics relevant to the department (OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, vascular).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ultrasound experience.
