Summary:
The ECG Technician II role performs technical work in the delivery of electrocardiographic testing services including electrocardiograms, exercise stress tests, thallium stress tests, pharmacologic stress tests, SAECG's, Holter recordings, and telephonic arrhythmia monitoring. Assists in the orientation and training of new employees, students, and cardiology fellows.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Certification as a Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or eligible within one year of start date required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
  3. Experience: Six months of previous experience as an ECG Technician I and previous arrhythmia training, or any equivalent combination of experience and training required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of an ECG Technician I role.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Completion of 10-12 month competency-based orientation.
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Knowledge of fundamental theory, principles, practices, techniques, and equipment used in electrocardiographic testing. Knowledge of drugs used, purpose, effect on ECG and patient, and adverse effects.
