  • Description:
    Connections Preschool 4-year-old preschool classes at Parkview Elementary.
    Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.(6.25 hours/day) and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (5 hours).
    Total: 30 hours/week

    Overview:
    District 196 is a state and nationally recognized public school district covering 110 square miles in northern Dakota County, Minnesota. District 196 serves approximately 150,000 residents including more than 29,000 students in Early Childhood programs through grade 12 and approximately 11,500 Birth – 4 year olds.

    Early Childhood Family Services, a program of Community Education, offers families with children birth through prekindergarten a variety of programs and services including Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Connections Preschool (School Readiness) and Family School (Family Literacy).


    Qualifications:
    • Experience and/or training in care of infants, toddlers and preschoolers
    • Experience with parents and children (birth to five) from multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and varied socio-economic backgrounds preferred
    • Physical strength and endurance to provide bodily care to infants, toddlers and preschoolers including lifting and diapering
    • Ability to communicate well with colleagues, parents and young children
    • Ability to work effectively as a team member
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Willingnessto accept flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
    Performance Responsibilities:
    • Assist in planning and implementing children's educational program and learning environment
    • Lead structured group and individualized activities as designed and directed by the teacher
    • Work effectively with up to 350 different children and parents each week
    • Change diapers or other clothing as necessary for infants and children who may be working on toileting skills or who are incontinent
    • Support teacher with daily routines and needs of children so that disturbances do not disrupt group learning or lead to safety concerns.
    • Comfort and support children working through separation anxiety.
    • Assist substitute teachers in delivering planned lessons in a manner that would preserve the continuity of routine and structure.
    • Actively play with children providing modeling, coaching, and creative play aids to them during free play periods.
    • Practice confidentiality and data privacy in regard to family information.
    • Provide guidance as well as independence needed for children to develop in all areas.
    • Discuss and provide information relating to the general and educational welfare of the children with the teacher and team.
    • Communicate with parents about children’s activities.
    • Participate in parent-child interactions.
    • Prepare and serve snacks and assist children during snack time.
    • Move equipment and rearrange environment for different age groups.
    • Prepare needed materials and supplies.
    • Assume responsibility for general housekeeping tasks in children’s learning environment.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher.
    • Participate in staff meetings and professional development as requested.

    Compensation / Benefits:
    RAVE Clerical Association – Wage Group V: $20.65 - $23.16 Hourly - According to contractual agreement (based on 2024-25 contract)
