Exceptional Child Education programs are designed to meet the needs of students whose approach to learning differs from that of their peers. The district is committed to providing a high‑quality education for students with disabilities. A variety of programs, techniques, methods, and materials are available and utilized for individualized instruction. ECE programs are provided to students with disabilities in both comprehensive and special education facilities. Assignments may include students with moderate to severe disabilities, mild mental disabilities, other health impairments, emotional‑behavioral disabilities, autism, visual impairment, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, social communication or a combination of each area. Changes in assignment or ECE designation may occur during a school year due to student and classroom needs or between school years when ECE allocations are reviewed.
