Job description

Under the general supervision of a Captain, a Lieutenant oversees the supervision of Sergeants and all subordinates assigned under their command. They have the authority to approve actions and resolve administrative issues, functioning as a mid-level manager within a defined area of responsibility. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and coordinating daily activities, overseeing joint detail operations throughout the State, authoring operational plans and after-action reports, and representing the agency at community meetings, committees, and business gatherings to promote department programs. They analyze data, prepare detailed operational reports for the Captain and Executive Command Staff, complete annual performance evaluations, review reports for accuracy and compliance, delegate tasks, promote transparency, ensure operational efficiency, manage fiscal responsibilities, participate in hiring and promotional processes, and assist in developing departmental procedures. They also act as a liaison for their subordinates by relaying orders and directives from Senior Command.

Minimum qualifications:
• 4 years' experience as a Sergeant
• Bachelor's degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience (preferred)
• Certification in AZPOST Full Authority and weapons
• Valid Driver License
• CVSA Part A and B certification

As operating a vehicle is essential, candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, complete required training, and pass record checks. Insurance requirements apply for personal vehicle use. All new hires must complete E-Verify.
