Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington is seeking a full-time Financial Counselor to join our ECCC Patient Support team. This role reviews new patient information, identifies issues, and contacts patients or third-party payers to secure details, payments, or settlement plans.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of related experience, and the ability to work with the public in a medical office context.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 year of position-related experience is required (up to 1 year).
• 2 to 5 years of position-related experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding is helpful.
• Ability to interact with the public in a professional manner.

The kind of position-related experience includes:

Must have a positive experience and have demonstrated the ability to effectively work with the public. Prefer at least 6 months work experience in a medical office setting. The ability to secure information and make arrangements in difficult situations. Knowledge of medical terminology including CPT and ICD-9 coding, processing and computer experience a must. Proven ability and willingness to work with the assist patients, coworkers, physicians and general public. Willing to take initiative, inquisitive, courteous and respectful.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting, walking, and standing.
• Lift, position, push and/or transfer patients.
• Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Contact with patient in a variety of circumstances
• Subject to varying or unpredictable circumstances or crisis situations
• Occasionally subjected to irregular hours/absences will be closely scrutinized.
• Frequent stimuli such as multiple meetings, phone calls, and inquiries may occur.
