Job Overview

Under the supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs by implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting progress, addressing students' specific needs, and providing a safe learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Must hold state certification in General Curriculum (license code 88091 or 88001) and be designated as "highly qualified."

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct assessments and testing to identify learning issues and recommend corrective actions.
  2. Develop and assist in implementing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and behavior management plans.
  3. Coordinate with staff and stakeholders to support students' abilities and needs.
  4. Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents and students.
  5. Engage in professional development activities.
  6. Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication.
  7. Apply knowledge of Response to Instruction.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements

Must be able to operate equipment, communicate effectively, and perform physical activities as required.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of special education principles and differentiated instruction.
  • Ability to analyze data and formulate action plans.
  • Familiarity with federal and state education laws.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish cooperative relationships.
Terms of Employment

Full-time, 10 months, salary based on state and local schedules.
