Job summary

Asheville City Schools is seeking an EC Teacher (Extended Content Standards) at Ira B. Jones Elementary School in Asheville, NC. Valid North Carolina licensure is required. This is a full-time, 10-month position with a $5,000 recruitment incentive (half paid after year one, half after year two).

The teacher will plan, organize, and present instruction to support students' academic and social development, supervise a teacher assistant, and report to the principal. Open until filled.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from a 4-year accredited college education program or have alternative qualifications approved by the State Board of Education.
• Valid North Carolina licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and presents instruction and learning environments.
• Directs and coordinates activities of the teacher assistant.
• Manages instructional time and keeps students on task.
• Sets clear rules for student behavior and maintains classroom discipline.
• Delivers lessons with concise presentation and appropriate pacing.
• Uses assessments to monitor student performance and provides feedback.
• Collaborates with colleagues to align objectives and learning strategies.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
