Teacher Assistant/Bus Driver

Reports To: EC Pre-K Coordinator and Teacher/Bus Supervisor

Term of Employment: 10 Months (School Year Calendar)

Supervises: No one

Performance Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated annually by the school principal and the bus supervisor

Education/Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, 2 years of classroom experience. Must be eligible for school bus driver's license (CDL).

Responsibilities and Duties by Program Area:

1. Assist students with personal and oral hygiene
2. Assist in feeding and serving meals to students
3. Support students with core functions of daily living
4. Assist with materials, equipment, and resources for students
5. Provide assistance as needed for implementation of programs and other duties in accordance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations
6. Assist students with the understanding of rules and regulations
7. Follow the direction of the teacher in obtaining goals and objectives
8. Monitor students as instructed by the teacher
9. Use sound judgment in reconciling minor conflicts and correcting behavior
10. Supervise students in the cafeteria, playground, buses, bathrooms, and other areas on and off school property (e.g. field trips)
11. Keep the teacher informed of any problems on a daily basis
12. Exhibit positive behavior toward parents and students
13. Assist in maintaining a functional clean environment
14. Communicate the needs of students and school in a confidential and positive manner
15. Carry out duties and responsibilities in a punctual, professional, and positive manner to ensure a safe and healthful environment
16. Conduct self as a positive role model
17. Maintain bus license and accept bus driver assignments as needed
18. Perform other duties as assigned by supervising teacher and building administrators
