Wright School

We are currently recruiting for a School Educator IV to function as an Exceptional Children’s (EC) Facilitator at Wright School in Durham, North Carolina.

Under supervision of the Assessment and Evaluation Coordinator, the EC Facilitator performs a variety of professional, instructional, administrative, and leadership tasks to coordinate special education activities as a member of the Assessment Team.

Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Initiate, complete, and maintain all EC and 504 paperwork for Wright School students within ECATS to ensure procedural compliance.
  • Initiate and maintain data in PowerSchool/Infinite Campus to support the EC process and discharge school transition process.
  • Work collaboratively with Assessment Team members to include the Educational Diagnostician and Speech Language Pathologist as well as teachers, therapists, psychologists, parents, related services personnel, and any/all other colleagues to assure that the EC identification, evaluation, and maintenance is completed in compliance with federal and state statutes and regulations.

The normal working hours for this position are Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; however, flexibility is required to meet facility needs. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full state benefits package.

The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) it's one of the largest most complex agencies in the state with approximately 18,000 employees. In collaboration with its partners, it is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians.

Wright School delivers treatment services using the Re-Education philosophy, model and related staffing pattern. Rather than a medical model where treatment services are delivered by a variety of specialist (nurses, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, art therapists, play therapist, rehabilitation therapist, etc.) the primary agents of change at Wright School are Teacher/Counselors, supported by the EDA staff. Educational and mental health professionals are cross trained and the methodology, vocabulary laws and regulations of both disciplines. Treatment services are planned and delivered by the milieu team of Teachers/Counselors and EDAs and include social skills training, cognitive behavioral therapy, group problem solving, individual and group behavior management programs. Treatment services to families are also delivered by Liaison Teacher/Counselors who provide a variety of skill-based training to families and how to meet children’s special needs at home.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree or above in Teaching Area with/or eligible to receive a license level of one of the following:

Bachelor's, Master's, Advanced, Doctorate. Must be Highly qualified for EC, Elementary or Core Area.
