Job summary

International Paper is seeking a Scaler in Eastover, SC to operate scale equipment, load wood products and raw materials, and uphold safety standards. You will maintain the scaler log and ensure compliance with material specifications.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma, reliable attendance, basic computer skills, and good communication with drivers and vendors. Overtime, weekend shifts, and PPE adherence are part of the job.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Scale wood products and raw materials into the facility.
• Maintain scaler exception log report and ensure adherence to specifications.
• Enforce material specs and loads per safety standards.
• Serve as the first point of contact with truck drivers, vendors and contractors.
• Wear required PPE and report injuries or damage.
• Manage truck turnaround time and communicate operations impacts.
• Flexible schedules and possible overtime; weekends/holidays.

Position Title JOB DESCRIPTION Scaler Pay Rate PL3

$44,800 - 59,700

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Category/Shift Non-exempt, Full-time, 12pm – 8pm Monday – Friday; some weekends and holidays

Physical Location: 4001 McCords Ferry Road Eastover, SC 29044

The Job You Will Perform

• Safety – work safely; must always exhibit safe behaviors and adhere to all International Paper safety principles.
• Maintain access control points and set flow of traffic into the mill.
• Key Tasks: Scale wood products, and raw materials (chemicals, etc.) into facility, maintain scaler exception log report, enforcement of material specifications and all loads and drivers to International Paper’s safety standards.
• Demonstrate communications and team building dynamics which support the IP principles of Diversity, Dignity, and Respect.
• Provide timely communications and assistance to the Fiber Supply Team.
• Serves as the first point of contact with truck drivers, vendors, and contractors, and at all times will conduct him/herself in a courteous and professional manner.
• Must wear all required PPE (personal protective equipment) and report all injuries and damage occurring to company and/or vendor property.
• Manage Truck Turnaround Time - Be aware of and communicate mill operations that may affect the efficiency of turnaround time & processing.
• Must be able to work in adverse conditions such as rain, heat, cold and dust.
• Perform or manage housekeeping functions at and around scalehouse.
• Willing and able to work flexible schedules, overtime as necessary including weekends and holidays. Must report on time.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Perform other duties as required.

The Skills You Will Bring

• Minimum high school graduate or equivalent. Experience with truck scales, customer service, knowledge of fiber specifications and species is preferred. Must demonstrate ability or potential to develop basic computer skills. Must be able to adapt to change, cope with different personalities and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
