Job summary
Mondi Group in Georgia, United States is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic for a manufacturing plant. The role focuses on pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical control systems, reading European schematics, and performing rapid fault diagnosis to minimize downtime.
You will work at heights, operate lifts, and use tools to service conveyors, gears, and packaging lines. Minimum five years in manufacturing maintenance; electrician cert preferred; Mondi Academy training offered.
Qualifications
- Five years in maintenance mechanics in manufacturing.
- Experience with packaging conveyors, gear boxes, drives and belts.
- Bachelor's or trade certs preferred; electrician cert preferred.
- Ability to read European electrical schematics and order components.
- Must be able to lift 41-70 pounds and work at heights.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose equipment failures quickly to determine root cause.
- Prioritize jobs to reduce downtime and improve OEE.
- Maintain pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical control systems.
- Read schematics and order components for repairs.
- Operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts as needed.

- Pneumatic Systems to include High Pressure Compressed Air Distribution Systems
- Hydraulic systems to include cylinders and pumps.
- Electrical Control Systems to include basic troubleshooting skills for either Siemens Simatic, Allen Bradley Logic 5000, Allen Bradley Logic 500, Beckhoff controls, Proximity Switches, relay logic, Limit Switches, network communication systems, and Profibus and Profinet.
- Demonstrated capabilities in configuring Inverters, VFDs, Servos, Encoders, and Motors
- Basic troubleshooting skills using Multimeters, Insulation Testers, Meggers, O scopes, Clamp on Amp Meters.
- Basic understanding of Safety - OSHA requirements to include LOTO, Arc Flash and PPE requirements.
- Must be able to work on different mechanical systems using correct tools and PPE to include but not limited to packaging conveyor systems, chain drives, gear boxes, drive shafts, pulley Systems, sprockets, rollers, solenoids, valves, splitter blades, bearings, shafts, rollers, belts, timing belts, chains
- Must be able to work at heights, drive and operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work methodically and quickly under pressure to quickly assess equipment failures determining the root cause of the failure and making effective repairs.
- Must be capable of prioritizing jobs and making critical decisions to assist in eliminating excessive downtime and enhance overall OEE for each piece of equipment.
- Must be able to read European Electrical Schematics and order components.
- Individual must be able to see colors for electrical work, must show an interest in learning new equipment and be a self-starter.
- Flexographic Printing Presses and High-Speed Packaging Line experience is a plus.

- Minimum 4 years’ experience in repairing W&H Tuber and Bottomer machines preferred
- Electrician Certification Preferred
- Minimum of a High School Diploma
- Bachelor of Science degree or mechanic certifications preferred
- Able to Lift 41 - 70 pounds
- Able to walk or stand for at least 5 hours
- Work hours may be changed when necessary as long as the needs of the company and customers are met
