Job summary

The Lansing School District is hiring athletic coaches who will recruit a full team, lead them to a competitive season, and ensure academic success for all players. They will also provide offseason training opportunities and lead in-season tutoring in accordance with MHSAA policies.

Applicants should have prior coaching success, CPR/first aid training, a valid Michigan Teacher Certificate, and knowledge of MHSAA rules.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach teams to competitive records while maintaining academic eligibility throughout the season
• Recruit a full team by the first day of the season and run tryouts if needed
• Coordinate and communicate practice and game schedules with the Athletic Director
• Organize and manage equipment and uniforms at season start and end
• Lead offseason conditioning, training, and clinics for team and community members
• Comply with all MHSAA policies and district rules
• Perform other duties to support the Lansing School District mission

In particular, the coach will be expected to recruit a full team, coach their team to a competitive record, and ensure their team is academically successful for the whole season. They will also be encouraged to provide offseason training opportunities and expected to lead in-season tutoring, in accordance with MHSAA policies.

• Successful NCAA athletic career
• Lead and support your team(s) throughout the entire season
• Recruit a full team of players by the first day of the season, including running competitive tryouts if necessary
• Coach your team(s) to a winning record, with the goal of reaching and excelling in postseason play
• Ensure all your players are academically eligible and successful throughout the entire season
• Organize and communicate consistent practice and competitive game schedules in collaboration with the Athletic Director
• Maintain and distribute team equipment and jerseys at the beginning and end of the season
• Organize and operate offseason conditioning, training, and clinics for both team members and community members
• Abide by all MHSAA policies and regulations
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
