Job summary

ICA Language Services seeks an experienced Punjabi (Eastern) Language Instructor for a part-time online class. The role focuses on proficiency-based instruction for adult learners, covering speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Schedule includes virtual sessions with evenings and some daytime slots; you will develop materials aligned to ILR levels and use the Gurmukhi script. This position requires in-person availability in the DC/NOVA area and remote components when appropriate.

Qualifications

• ILR 4/4 or higher proficiency in Eastern Punjabi and strong English proficiency.
• Experience teaching Eastern Punjabi to adult learners.
• Ability to teach Eastern Punjabi, including the Gurmukhi script.
• Experience teaching government, military, diplomatic, or other adult professional learners is preferred.
• Familiarity with proficiency-based language instruction and the ILR scale is preferred.
• Ability to teach both in person and virtually according to the proposed schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, proficiency-based Eastern Punjabi language instruction to adult learners.
• Develop and adapt instructional materials based on students’ proficiency levels and learning objectives.
• Provide instruction in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Incorporate relevant cultural knowledge and authentic materials into instruction.
• Maintain a professional and supportive learning environment.
