Job summary

Wellspring Advisors, LLC seeks an undergraduate intern to support the East African Civil Society (EACS) program in our Dupont Circle office, Washington, DC. The paid, full-time role involves administrative tasks, travel planning, and program research.

Ideal candidates study relevant fields and have strong English communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Prior nonprofit or Africa-related experience is a plus and discretion is essential when handling confidential information.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g. international development, human rights, organizational capacity-building)
• Experience living or working in sub-Saharan Africa preferred
• Fluency in English and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office

Wellspring Advisors seeks an undergraduate intern to provide administrative and programmatic support to our East African Civil Society (EACS) program. This paid, full-time position is located in our Dupont Circle office in Washington, DC.

Description of the EACS Program

The East African Civil Society Program ensures the successful implementation of Wellspring’s work in that region. Through its grantmaking, the program aims to strengthen local organizations and promote an environment in which citizens, civil society, and human rights defenders actively and effectively engage on political, economic, social, and cultural issues.

Desired Qualifications:

• Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g. international development, international human rights, organizational capacity-building etc.)
• Previous volunteer or work experience in the field of human rights, grantmaking or nonprofits preferred
• Experience living or working in sub-Saharan Africa preferred
• Fluency in English and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytic, research and organizational skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Initiative, resourcefulness and flexibility
• Ability to handle confidential client information with complete discretion.

Program-related responsibilities:

• Track and compile relevant current events

• Conduct various research projects related to East African civil society as agreed upon with program team
• Conduct analysis on issues related to East African civil society

• Attend Africa-related events in Washington, DC (meetings, conferences, etc.)
