Job summary

Marmon Railroad Services is seeking a heavy equipment operator to support field operations on large-scale infrastructure projects. The role involves operating graders, bulldozers, loaders, and excavators, performing grading, and ensuring proper slopes and elevations while maintaining safety and quality.

The position is full-time with compensation starting at $25.00 per hour, based on experience. Candidates should have 2–4 years of relevant experience, read blueprints and grade stakes, and pass

• Knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate graders, bulldozers, loaders, and excavators safely.
• Perform grading and ensure proper slopes, drainage, and elevations.
• Read grade stakes and blueprints and apply project specs.
• Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance.
• Coordinate with supervisors and crew for efficient workflow.
• Follow safety policies and report hazards.
• Assist with additional site duties when needed.

Duties

• Operate heavy equipment such as graders, bulldozers, loaders, and excavators
• Perform rough and fine grading based on plans and project requirements
• Read and interpret grade stakes, blueprints, and job specifications
• Maintain proper slopes, drainage, and elevations
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete required documentation
• Perform basic equipment maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, minor adjustments)
• Communicate with supervisors and crew members to coordinate work
• Follow all company safety policies and site-specific safety requirements
• Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions
• Assist with additional job site duties as needed

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 2-4 years of experience operating heavy grading equipment
• Proven ability to operate equipment safely and accurately
• Knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations
• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and grade stakes
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Experience with rail construction equipment is a plus
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
• FRA certification required when applicable
• CDL is a plus
