Job summary

Croell, Inc. in Casper, WY is seeking an Earthwork Foreman to lead and supervise our dirt crew supporting asphalt paving. You will manage excavation, grading, subgrade prep, base placement, compaction, drainage, and site preparation, with travel during peak season.

This full-time role reports to the Operations Manager and Asphalt Superintendent and carries overtime responsibilities. We're looking for a hands-on leader with asphalt experience, strong communication, reliability, and the ability to

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in asphalt.
• High level of reasoning abilities (i.e., Meeting deadlines, Prioritize Company and customer needs, serving as a leader to both peers and direct reports).
• Possess excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and work alongside the earthwork/dirt crew during daily operations.
• Oversee excavation, grading, subgrade preparation, aggregate base placement, compaction, and other earthwork associated with asphalt paving projects.
• Ensure proper preparation of surfaces prior to asphalt placement.
• Read and understand project plans, specifications, grades, elevations, and staking.
• Use grade information and construction technology to ensure work is completed to proper elevations and specifications.
• Coordinate the operation and movement of equipment such as dozers, motor graders, excavators, skid steers, loaders, compactors, and haul trucks.
• Coordinate closely with paving crews, project managers, superintendents, truck drivers, subcontractors, and other personnel.
• Perform daily inspections of the work area and help ensure equipment is being operated safely and properly.
• Maintain a safe jobsite and ensure crew members follow company policies, OSHA requirements, and established safety procedures.
• Conduct or assist with daily safety meetings and job hazard discussions.
• Maintain accurate daily records including employee hours, equipment usage, production, materials, and job progress as required.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with employees, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
