Job summary

TerraFirma is hiring an entry-level estimator to support accurate cost estimates for earthworks and site development. You will work with estimators, engineers, project managers, and business development to turn project plans and pricing inputs into competitive bids.

This role offers hands-on takeoffs, pricing, bid organization, subcontractor coordination, and process improvement while building a foundation to grow as a heavy civil estimator in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in construction estimating or heavy civil projects.
• Bachelor's degree in CM, CE, or related field is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with estimating software such as Trimble, B2W, AGTEK, Bluebeam is helpful.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for earthworks and site development projects.
• Review plans, specs, geotechnical reports to understand scope and cost drivers.
• Collaborate with estimators, engineers, PMs, and BD to gather information for estimates.
• Support subcontractor and supplier outreach for pricing and bid coverage.
• Help develop SOPs and templates for lean, fast, low-risk bidding.
• Participate in site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs as needed.
• Maintain organized documentation of estimates, takeoffs, inputs, assumptions, and bids.
• Monitor project costs during construction and identify variances for future bids.
• Assist with bid leveling, scope comparisons, and internal reviews.
