Job summary

TerraFirma in Austin, TX is seeking an early-career estimator to support cost estimates for earthworks and site development. You will work with estimators, engineers, PMs, and business development to turn plans and pricing inputs into competitive bids.

The role offers hands-on experience in heavy civil estimating and opportunities for growth. Responsibilities include quantity takeoffs, price development, bid organization, and coordinating with subcontractors.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in construction, civil engineering, estimating, earthworks, or heavy civil projects.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with estimating software is helpful but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for earthworks and site development projects.
• Review project plans, specs, geotechnical reports, and bid documents to understand scope and cost drivers.
• Collaborate with estimators, engineers, PMs, and BD managers to gather information.
• Support subcontractor and supplier outreach for pricing and bid coverage.
• Help develop estimating SOPs and templates for lean, fast bidding.
