Job summary

VITO Research is developing Earth Observation solutions to tackle climate, land management and environmental monitoring challenges. You will contribute to next-generation satellite data processing, from mission prep and payload concepts to operational processing chains for optical, TIR and SAR missions.

You will collaborate with researchers, software and system engineers, business developers and partners in an interdisciplinary environment where innovation and knowledge sharing are key.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or a related field.
• Solid understanding of optical/SAR EO, remote sensing principles and satellite image processing from rawdata to Level 2.
• Strong programming skills in Python and C++, with experience in geospatial libraries.

Responsibilities

• Define Earth Observation products with customers and engineers to meet mission objectives.
• Translate user requirements into technical specs for image processing algorithms and data products.
• Contribute to design and assessment of future satellite missions from a data-processing perspective.
• Develop and maintain image processing processors/workflows transforming raw observations into calibrated products.
• Improve algorithms for geometric/radiometric processing, atmospheric correction, cloud masking, higher-level products.
• Build scalable processing workflows handling large data volumes across missions and sensors.
• Support proposal preparation, feasibility studies and project execution with EO data processing expertise.
• Evaluate new processing methods to improve quality and efficiency.
• Contribute to calibration, validation and QA to ensure product reliability.
