General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks during all working hours and perform a range of functions across the store as needed, including additional tasks that support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Prioritizes safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
• Maintains a safe, clutter-free sales floor, ensuring clear egress to emergency exits, and reports unsafe conditions.
• Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognizes fellow Associates.
• Assists Customers with merchandise, answers questions politely and knowledgeably, and greets customers regularly.
• Provides prompt responses to Customer needs, handles issues courteously, and calls Store Leadership when necessary.
• Supports the Company brand at all times.
• Performs cleaning tasks to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to dress code.
• Ensures merchandise is well-organized and replenished on the sales floor.
• Expedites receipt of new merchandise, merchandising items per guidelines, and maintains familiarity with products to assist customers.
• Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
• Demonstrates integrity, safeguards confidential information, and handles cash and merchandise responsibly.
• Follows all policies regarding stock management, cash handling, and transactions.
• Works efficiently, maximizing productivity and minimizing steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Skills

Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner. Basic math skills common in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use all store equipment as required.
• Standing, walking, and moving around the store up to 100% of the time.
• Bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and stooping regularly.
• Occasionally pushing, pulling, and lifting over 25 pounds.
• Using janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
• Stockroom shifts require regularly pushing, pulling, and lifting over 20 pounds.
