Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 18+.
• Prefer 2-year degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science or related experience.
• Helpful certifications: Personal Training and Group Exercise Instructor.
• Minimum six months class participation or fitness class assistant; high interest in fitness.

Responsibilities

• Lead fitness and related classes following YMCA standards.
• Enforce wellness center rules at participants' level of understanding.
• Demonstrate and train participants in a professional manner.
• Monitor safety and correct participants as needed.
• Promote wellness and other YMCA programs.
• Arrive 10–15 minutes early; set up class equipment; start and end on time.
• Take attendance and ensure participants are registered.
• Educate on appropriate attire for group classes.
• Teach entire session; arrange subs when needed; help others when possible.
• Develop positive relationships and provide motivational support.
