Job summary

FedEx Freight in Little Rock, AR is seeking a Freight Handler to move freight across dock areas and load/unload trailers. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, verify shipments and secure loads according to safety rules.

The position requires frequent lifting, basic math, and accurate documentation. The shift runs 01:00–09:30; starting pay is $24.42 per hour. FedEx Freight is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck for freight handling.
• Verify freight documentation against description and weight.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Follow laws, regulations and company policies.
• Other duties as required.
