Job summary

Mentor Public Schools is seeking an after-school We Care Instructor for a 7:00am-9:00am shift at Sterling Morton Elementary in Mentor, Ohio. The role is a 2-hour, full-time school-day assignment, requiring supervision, safety oversight, and activity leadership for students. Salary is $15.00 per hour with CPR/First Aid preferred.

Applicants must be at least 18, have a HS diploma, and 500 hours of related experience, plus pass a physical exam. Deadline Oct 15, 2026.

Qualifications

• At least eighteen years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 500 hours of related experience.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Good attendance record.
• Good judgment in routine and stressful situations.
• Proficiency in reading, math, oral and written communications.
• Must pass a physical examination.
• No alcohol or non-prescribed substances in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Accept directions and suggestions from the immediate supervisor.
• Supervise large and small groups of children in afterschool environment.
• Ensure the safety of students at all times.
• Assist the program leader in planning the program and environment.
• Lead students in developmentally appropriate activities as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining records, charts, and other clerical work.
• Communicate with students and families in a professional manner.
• Attend required in-services training sessions.
