Job summary

Kidango is seeking an Assistant Teacher in San Jose, CA to support daily programming and create safe, nurturing learning environments. You will plan activities, prepare materials, and maintain an organized classroom while communicating with families under supervision.

Ideal candidates hold an unexpired Associate Teacher Permit from the CA Department of Education, are willing to travel between centers, have reliable transportation, and can pass health/TB screenings. Compensation is $34.63/hr.

Qualifications

  • Possess an unexpired Associate Teacher Permit from the Department of Education required.
  • Prior experience in working with young children preferred.
  • Immunization records that comply with Senate Bill 792 (immunity for measles, pertussis, and influenza).
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.
  • Must be willing to travel to different cities and centres.
  • Must be flexible with on-call assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing the daily program.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining the environment in a clean, safe manner.
  • Assume responsibilities for regular parent communication as directed by a supervisor.
  • Work with an Associate Teacher, Teacher, Master Teacher, or Center Director.
  • Ensure health, safety, and well-being of all children in the agency.
  • Support volunteers as requested.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Participate in activities that further professional growth.
  • Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and employees.
  • Promote the mission and philosophy of Kidango.
  • Greet children, parents, staff, and guests as needed.
  • Assist other centers when requested.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher or Center Director.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintains confidentiality of children, families, and employees.
  • Works as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
  • Greets children, parents, staff, and guests as needed.
  • Assists other centers when requested.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher or Center Director.
Preferred qualifications
  • Possess an unexpired Associate Teacher Permit from the Department of Education required

Compensation

$34.63 - $34.63 USD

Additional Requirements
  • Must pass a health screening and TB test
  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance
  • Valid Driver License
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties
  • The employee will be required to use hands for computer work, answering phone calls, etc.
