Job summary

Capital Region ESD 113 in Thurston County is seeking a Teacher Assistant Health Advocate. This non-exempt, union-represented role supports families, assists with classroom planning, conducts health screenings, and maintains health records while enabling family involvement in the program.

The position collaborates with the Center Director, participates in home visits, and facilitates referrals and education for health and nutrition, promoting child development in a safe, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CDA credential or enrollment in an ECE degree or CDA program.
• Experience or ability to assist with health screenings and health records.
• Ability to communicate effectively with families and staff.
• Willingness to travel for home visits and program activities.

Responsibilities

• Family health support: provide resources and information to families.
• Classroom activity planning: assist in planning developmentally appropriate lessons.
• Instruction of children and parents: support nutrition, self-care, language, and other skills.
• Health screenings: conduct screenings and document results.
• Home visits: perform home visits as required to support families.
• Record maintenance: maintain health and program records accurately.
• Travel as needed to support center operations.
• Team collaboration: work with staff to ensure program quality.
