Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks an Early Learning classroom associate instructor to support children’s growth in language, literacy, math, and social development. You will implement developmentally appropriate activities and partner with families to promote home learning.

The role requires an AA in Early Childhood Education, CPR/First Aid, and 18+ years of age, with responsibilities including planning, classroom leadership, and collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• AA degree with 40 credits in Early Childhood Education from an accredited school; one year experience in preschool/child care.
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications and Food Handler’s permit or required to obtain within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Establishes safe, healthy, creative learning environment with guidance from Early Learning administrator.
• Uses diverse activities to support language, literacy, math, creativity, health, social and emotional growth.
• Prepares daily activity plans and tracks developmental progress and learning outcomes.
• Models and teaches appropriate behavior; supervises students between classes as needed.
