Description

This posting is to fill various Educational Assistant positions, authorized level Educational Assistant III; applications are accepted for lower levels in case of recruiting difficulties.

Salary Range
  • Educational Assistant I, SR‑10: $3,019.78 per month
  • Educational Assistant II, SR‑12: $3,260.76 per month
  • Educational Assistant III, SR‑14: $3,526.98 per month
Examples of Duties
  • Cultivate healthy, challenging learning environments and experiences; converse with children in a positive manner during child‑initiated activities and routines; greet children upon arrival and ensure safe departure; instruct and model appropriate behavior; encourage positive social rapport; assist during transitions and routines; address conflicts between children; engage with children during play to promote development in all domains.
  • Implement and assess learning experiences for children based on plans and goals established with or by the teacher; set up activities and learning centers for indoor and outdoor activities; supervise and conduct group and individual learning activities; build positive relationships and guide children through supportive interactions.
  • Observe children and document or assess their development and learning; collect additional data as directed by the teacher.
  • Ensure overall health and safety for children; assist with toileting, handwashing, eating, resting, playing; report unsafe play or work areas and clean materials and surfaces when needed; help children manage stressful situations.
  • Prepare and maintain materials and learning environments; organize learning centers as guided by the teacher; observe use of materials; suggest modifications or adaptations; consult with the teacher as needed.
  • Supervise activities before, during, and after class.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
  • Successful completion of training for a certificate that meets CDA Credential preparation requirements, including at least 120 hours of formal early‑childhood education training covering the development of children ages 3‑5.
  • Enrollment in a program, coursework, or training that prepares for a CDA Credential, with annual evidence of active pursuit.
Education Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and:
    • Successful completion of a State‑approved examination such as the ParaPro or ParaPathways Assessment.
    • At least 48 baccalaureate‑level semester credits, including 3 credits in mathematics and 3 in English.
    • An associate degree or higher from an accredited institution recognized by the Department.
Experience Requirements
  • Educational Assistant I: 0 years general, 0 years specialized.
  • Educational Assistant II: 1 year general, 0 years specialized.
  • Educational Assistant III: 1 year general, 1 year specialized.
  • One (1) year of experience is defined as a school year (~180 instructional days).
Driver's License Requirement

Some positions require possession of a current, valid driver’s license.

Lift and Carry Requirement

Some positions require the ability to lift and carry up to 65 pounds unassisted, or up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Substitutions Allowed
  • CDA credential or related program may substitute for 1/2 year of specialized experience.
  • 15 baccalaureate‑level semester credits may substitute for 1/2 year of general experience (up to 1 year).
  • 15 baccalaureate‑level semester credits in Education or closely related field may substitute for 1/2 year of specialized experience (up to 2 years).
  • Associate degree may substitute for 1 year of general experience.
  • Associate degree in Education or closely related field may substitute for all general and specialized experience.
  • Bachelor or higher degree may substitute for all general and specialized experience.
Quality of Experience

Applicants must demonstrate scope and responsibility of experience beyond required years to prove ability to perform the duties of the position.
