Job summary

Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, SC is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers in providing a safe, nurturing environment for young children.

You will assist with supervision, prepare materials, and help with daily routines to promote social, emotional, and developmental growth while complying with licensing, health, and safety requirements. The role requires First Aid/ CPR certification, a high school diploma or GED, and a willingness to meet background screening

Qualifications

• First Aid and CPR certification required within state-specific timeline.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Must meet state requirements and complete required background screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with age-appropriate activities and learning experiences.
• Supervise children during routines to ensure safety.
• Prepare classroom materials and learning environments.
• Support staff in maintaining required staff-to-child ratios.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and welcoming environment.
• Communicate with parents, staff, and center leadership as appropriate.
• Assist with health and safety documentation and daily reports.
