Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers in a safe, nurturing environment for young children. This role assists with supervision, prepares materials, and helps maintain daily routines in compliance with licensing and safety requirements.

The successful candidate will foster social, emotional, and developmental growth, monitor staff-to-child ratios, and communicate effectively with families and center leadership while supporting health and safety

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• First Aid and CPR certification in adult and pediatrics required within state-specific timeline.
• Coursework in Early Childhood Education or similar field preferred.
• Must meet all state requirements and complete background screening for child care associations.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing age-appropriate activities and learning experiences.
• Supervise children during daily routines to ensure safety and well-being.
• Help prepare classroom materials, supplies, and learning environments.
• Support staff-to-child ratios and safe supervision practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming classroom environment.
• Maintain open communication with parents, staff, and center leadership as appropriate.
• Support children’s health and safety by following center policies and reporting incidents.
• Assist with maintaining classroom records and daily reports as required.
