RWJBarnabas Health in Mountainside, NJ is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to join their Early Intervention Grant team. Job Title: Physical Therapist
Location: Mountainside (MTN), 150 New Providence Rd, Mountainside, NJ 07092
Department: Early Intervention Grant
Pay: $78.36 per hour (Hourly, Day Shift)

Job Overview

Within the Early Intervention team, the Physical Therapist screens, evaluates, and provides ongoing assessment and direct services to children eligible for early intervention services. The PT collaborates with other team members to develop Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP), instructs parents and caregivers, and prepares transition/discharge plans.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy program
  • New Jersey Licensed Physical Therapist
  • Valid NJ driver’s license and required insurance
  • At least 2 years of experience working with young children with disabilities
  • Targeted Evaluation team members require 2 years pediatric experience evaluating children ages 0‑5
  • Sound background in normal child development
  • Knowledge of the educational and therapeutic value of early intervention for children with developmental delays
  • Knowledge of basic principles of behavior management
  • Ability to conceptualize, interpret, and integrate early childhood educational and intervention techniques into family routines
Certifications and Licenses Required
  • New Jersey Licensed Physical Therapist
  • New Jersey Driver’s License

Essential Functions
  • Complete developmental evaluations in the child's natural environment.
  • Communicate effectively with families and team members.
  • Support families’ ability to interact with their child in daily routines.
  • Provide strategies that are appropriate and measurable as part of the IFSP.
  • Recommend ongoing services in collaboration with the family and team.
  • Use the NJ Birth to Three Early Learning Standards as a framework for developmentally appropriate expectations.
  • Apply discipline‑specific tools and checklists to assess child needs and delineate strategies across the team.
  • Select and adapt appropriate activities, incorporating evidence‑based strategies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of methods while meeting family outcomes.
  • Maintain sensitivity to parent circumstances and adhere to the NJEIS Code of Conduct.
  • Complete session notes and record data in the mode reporting system.
  • Seek supervision or consultation related to clinical performance and contribute to performance reviews.
  • Assist in training others in early intervention philosophy and evidence‑based models.
  • Communicate job‑specific concerns and participate in solution development.
  • Attend in‑service trainings, staff meetings, and conference calls.
  • Travel in a personal vehicle between the child’s natural environment and the facility.
  • Accurately record time/frequency of services and obtain required signatures for billing.
  • Submit bills for services per departmental policies.
  • Submit required paperwork timely and accurately per departmental requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with office via email, text, and telephone; respond quickly to requests.
