Job summary

Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services in Cincinnati is hiring an Early Intervention Developmental Specialist. You will develop IFSPs for infants and toddlers with disabilities or delays and deliver caregiver coaching in homes or daycares.

You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team, conduct ongoing assessments, support developmental evaluations, and travel within Hamilton County. The agency provides equipment and reimbursement for travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in special education, early childhood, social work, or related field.
• Ability to travel within Hamilton County as needed.
• Must pass criminal background checks, drivers abstract, and abuser registry checks

Responsibilities

• Performs multi-disciplinary evaluations and assessments using formal and informal tools to establish child/family eligibility and need for ongoing services.
• Develops IFSP outcomes based on family priorities as part of a trans-disciplinary team with parents, caseworkers, medical personnel, and therapists.
• Implements evidence-based early intervention services through a primary service provider approach with coaching interactions.
• Provides services in homes and daycare centers; travels to community locations to implement plans.
• Communicates family priorities and needs; offers coaching during weekly team meetings and joint visits.
• Develops and maintains individual records and reports.
• Participates in continuing education to stay current and maintain licenses/certificates.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education

What we offer

Competitive Pay

• Starting salary is based on experience: $26.00/hr. ($47,320/yr) with no experience, up to $32.50/hr. ($59,150/yr) with 10+ years in the same role.
• Hourly role paid bi-weekly.

Work-Life Balance

• 35-hour full-time work week; 7 hours per day M-F
• 3 weeks vacation accrual per year to start, with 1 week allocated immediately upon hire
• 3 personal days per year
• 15 sick days allocated upon hire; accrues at 15 days per year after year one with unlimited accrual

Early Intervention Developmental Specialist

A typical day in the life of an Early Intervention Developmental Specialist includes providing services to parents of infants and toddlers with disabilities or developmental delays. You will develop Individualized Family Service Plans for each child and will deliver evidence-based, caregiver-coaching services in natural environments such as the family's home or the child's day care. You will work with a team of other Early Intervention professionals who will coach and support you in your work with each family. You will conduct ongoing assessments for each child and family, assisting with developmental evaluations for eligibility when needed. To support your work, you will receive an agency-provided phone and laptop, along with reimbursement for travel related to home visits.

Job Duties (Summary)

• Performs multi-disciplinary evaluations and assessments using formal and informal tools to establish the child/family’s eligibility and need for ongoing services.
• Develops Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) outcomes based on family priorities as part of a trans-disciplinary team; works cooperatively with other staff, Service & Support Administrator, parents, caseworkers, medical personnel, therapists, etc. to achieve child and family outcomes as identified by the IFSP.
• Implements evidence-based early intervention services through a primary service provider approach; utilizes a coaching interaction style with other staff, parents, and caregivers.
• Provides services within natural environments such as homes and daycare centers; travels to and gains access to locations in the community to implement plans based on an individual’s needs in a safe, efficient, and effective manner in accordance with agency procedures.
• Communicates family’s priorities, needs, and interests; provides coaching support to team members during weekly team meetings and on joint visits.
• Develops and maintains individual records and reports.
• Participates in continuing education opportunities within the field of early intervention to ensure current, relevant, evidence-based service delivery; maintains required licenses and/or certificates.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Work Location

Hybrid locations – work is performed both away from the office, in the community, and at 1701 Patricia McCollum Way, Cincinnati, OH 45237. Employees are expected to travel within the county to meet with individuals and attend in-office meetings as needed. The flexibility to work from home is available when job duties allow.
