Job summary

Communityactionallegan is seeking an Early Head Start Teacher in Michigan to provide developmentally appropriate instructional experiences for preschool children, fostering social, emotional, physical, and academic growth. You will apply early childhood knowledge and collaborate with a Co-Teacher to plan and implement learning activities.

The role emphasizes strong family engagement, adherence to Head Start requirements, room safety, and effective classroom management.

Qualifications

• Must meet Michigan licensing standards for lead caregiver and Head Start requirements including a CDA and Infant/ Toddler Development Focus, with 480 hours of childcare experience.
• AA in Early Childhood Education or equivalent as defined by Head Start regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans activities that support progress of each individual child using the designated curriculum.
• Assure that room arrangement meets the developmental needs of all children.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary indoor and outdoor environment.
• Implements effective classroom management strategies.
• Plan outcomes, transitions in classroom, and implements activities for outdoor learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Family Partnership: Plans and implements transitions from Early Head Start to Head Start or other setting.
• Works in partnership with families, special education team, and management members in the development and implementation of the child's individual education plan.
• Actively communicates with families to ensure every child's success. Screening and assessment results are shared with families, staff, and partners.
• Confers with families; refer child and family concerns to appropriate partners and staff.
