Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis is seeking an Early Head Start Teacher to support our Head Start/Early Head Start program.

The teacher will plan and conduct classroom activities that provide individual developmental experiences for children and perform classroom teaching duties while ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all assigned children. The role also involves directing Teacher Assistants and parent volunteers, promoting parent involvement in the classroom, and maintaining

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in Early Childhood education.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect and childcare licensing requirements.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including the ability to recognize situations in which confidentiality is required.
• Ability to communicate ideas and instructions orally and in writing.
• Ability to organize and direct classroom activities.
• Ability to work with staff, children and parents.
• Must obtain CDA credential or comparable with infant/toddler focus.
• AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred.
• Must obtain Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification and Safe Food Handlers certificate.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Health exam, TB screen, Hepatitis A vaccination and background check are required for hire.

Candidates Must Have

• A minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential with a focus on infant and toddler development.
• AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred.
• Must successfully obtain the Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification and Safe Food Handlers certificate and updates as required.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Per program policies a health exam, clear tuberculosis screen, Hepatitis A vaccination and background check are required for hire.
