Position Summary
This role supports the Y, a nonprofit dedicated to community strengthening through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Responsibilities include supervising infants (6 weeks to 3 years), ensuring their health, safety, involvement, and creativity, and collaborating with team teachers to plan and implement daily activities aligned with the Maryland State Department of Education Early Learning Standards.

Knowledge and Skills
- Extensive knowledge in early childhood development
- Understanding of supervision basics
- Knowledge of child abuse, neglect, and licensing regulations
- Familiarity with local resources, languages, and customs
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Mathematical skills including basic arithmetic, percentages, and data interpretation
- Problem-solving, data analysis, and confidentiality skills
- Patience, tact, professionalism, and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and online training platforms
Essential Functions
- Attend required training and workshops, staying updated on standards and regulations
- Collaborate with team to meet individual needs of children, ensuring safety and developmental appropriateness
- Develop individualized plans for children, including goal setting and activities based on assessments
- Schedule and document home visits and parent-teacher conferences
- Maintain confidentiality and a safe learning environment
- Plan daily lessons aligned with curriculum and program goals
- Support social-emotional development and positive guidance
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and coordinate with specialists
- Engage in ongoing professional development and parent involvement activities
- Document and assess child progress regularly, maintaining portfolios and data in GOLD
- Foster positive relationships with families and involve them in the educational process
- Participate in transition activities and community engagement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, health, and safety regulations
