Job summary

Carey Services Inc is seeking a Part-Time EHS Substitute in Marion, Indiana, to support early childhood classrooms under the supervision of the EHS Classroom Supervisor. • Pay Range: $12.81/Hour
• Location: Marion, Indiana
• Hours: Part-Time
• Schedule: Hours Vary, Monday - Friday.

What We're Looking For:

The EHS Substitute, under the supervision of the EHS Classroom Supervisor is responsible for assisting primary teachers in working with very young children, their parents, other staff, volunteers, and community partners to provide developmentally appropriate quality childcare in a center-based environment that is in compliance with all Head Start Program Performances Standards and State Licensing Requirements.

Ideal Experience, Background & Skills:

• Knowledge of Early Childhood education is a plus.
• Experience working with young children and/or working with children with developmental delays or disabilities is preferred.
• Ability to foster a collaborative work environment, promote teamwork, and cooperation.

As a Substitute with EHS, you'll spend your days:

• Assisting in implementing developmentally appropriate instruction based on each child’s individual needs.
• Providing responsive care giving to center-based children
• Ensuring the safety of each child that is assigned to your care, checking toys and equipment daily.
• Communicating with primary teachers, parents, and children.
• Providing assistance in indoor and outdoor settings as directed by supervisor or primary teacher.
• Encouraging and respecting the particular ethnic background of all EHS and Carey Services families, children, clients and staff.
• Adhering to all plans, policies, and procedures of Carey Services and Early Head Start.
• Participating in ongoing training activities as outlined in EHS and State Licensing Regulations.
• Promoting agency-wide safety and housekeeping as well as take a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and delivery of quality service.

Requirements

• Education and Experience: Must be at least 21 years of age in order to be alone with children; must hold at least a high school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge: Must be able to learn (instruction provided) basic principles of teaching; must have good basic mathematical computation and English Language writing knowledge.
• Skills: Must possess nurturing skills, be able to implement positive and anticipatory guidance with children, and be able to pick-up, move and play with small children both in and out of doors, including routine tasks such as diaper changing, feeding, moving toys, doing laundry and dishes; must possess the following qualities: adaptability and flexibility, teamwork, communication (written and oral), initiative, planning and organization, problem solving.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, or sit for periods of time and to lift 40lbs; must possess the sensory capabilities necessary to perform essential job functions; must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoes, ear plugs, etc.
• Safety and Compliance: Must be able to follow all required safe and universal precaution practices during a pandemic and as required otherwise. As required by specific job requirements, must know first aid, health and safety measures, or build an acceptable competence level by post-hire training.
