Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking an Early Head Start Home Visitor to recruit and enroll families for participation in the Head Start program, conducting weekly home visits to support child growth and family goals.

Responsibilities include collaborating with social services to provide health, nutrition, and mental health resources, maintaining records, and guiding families toward Family Partnership Agreements. On-site role with mandatory child safety practices.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• California driver’s license or reliable transportation with adequate auto insurance.
• Health screenings and vaccinations as required (TB, influenza, pertussis, measles).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Experience in child development field work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of twelve families with weekly home visits.
• Identify family/child challenges and explore solutions.
• Develop developmentally appropriate, family-focused activities with parents.
• Collaborate with services to provide health, nutrition, and mental health support.
• Maintain child records and submit monthly reports on time.
• Foster parent involvement and act as liaison between families and community resources.
