Project Eagle is an early childhood program focused on preparing children, engaging families, and promoting excellence for children and families in Kansas City, Kansas. It provides home-based and center-based services to pregnant women and/or children from birth to five years old, primarily through Early Head Start. It is part of the Educare Learning Network, which aims to inspire high-quality programs, influence public policies, and demonstrate a comprehensive approach to early childhood learning. Position Summary :

The Early Head Start / Head Start Teacher, in partnership with the Associate Teacher, is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive education program. They ensure classroom activities are developmentally appropriate, meet individual needs, and align with the agency's philosophy and curriculum. They develop and execute individualized lesson plans for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, fostering social, emotional, physical, linguistic, and intellectual development in an age-appropriate manner. The teaching team provides a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment with a focus on early language and social-emotional growth. The Teacher and Associate Teacher must adhere to all program requirements, standards, and funding models.

Required Qualifications

Education: Meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
  • Degree in an unrelated field with at least 30 early childhood credits
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, with at least 2 years of experience, and enrolled in a Bachelor's program to complete within 3 years
  • Credits equivalent to an Associate's degree focused on Early Childhood, with similar experience and enrollment requirements

Work Experience :

  • At least 2 years' experience in early childhood education
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite

Conditions of Employment :

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodations
  • Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days (employer-paid)
  • Pass background check including fingerprinting

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Early childhood teaching certification or graduate coursework/degree
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Additional Experience and Knowledge include working in Head Start programs, understanding of performance standards, team collaboration, experience with inclusion and special needs, curriculum implementation, assessment tools, and research partnerships.

Anticipated Starting Salary : $23.44 / hr.
