Scope of Responsibilities: The Early Education* Assistant Teacher's role is to support the classroom teacher and director in planning and implementing the daily program while treating all students and families with dignity and respect.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The assistant teacher for this split shift position will arrive at 7:30 am and leave at 12:30 for lunch. Upon returning at 2:00 pm, the TA will assist in the transition between extended day and Sabre KidsTime until 4:30 pm..
- Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the teacher, principal, assistant principal, and beyond the classroom coordinator.
- Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up skill centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
- Supervise the classroom as the main/sole caregiver of students when the teacher is not present.
- Follow EE guidelines for playground supervision.
- Help with the general housekeeping tasks; maintain order and cleanliness.
- Assist in other duties as appropriate.
- Accept adjustments in assigned duty when asked to meet needs of our students.
- Treat all children with dignity, gentleness, and respect.
- Provide safety and security for students - physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
- Maintain DSS training hours.
- Attend staff meetings (including In-Service week), Professional Development, and recommended training programs and conferences.
- Other duties or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:
- Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
- Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling as expressed by Southside Christian School demonstrated by their eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.
- Must be spiritually mature and agree with the school's Mission, Vision, Values, Biblical Beliefs, Statement of Christian Life Commitment, and Statement of Faith.
- Experience working with young students is preferred but not required.
- Must pass a background check, present a negative tuberculosis test, and meet DSS licensing protocol.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to evacuate students in the event of emergency.
- Ability to sit, bend, stand, or sit on low chairs or floor as needed in care of and interactions with students.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
