Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking an Early Education Apprentice to assist in planning and implementing curriculum for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The role supports the Lead Teacher and communicates with families to foster a safe, engaging learning environment at multiple sites.

You will contribute to healthy living, social responsibility and youth development while modeling YMCA values and participating in training and staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Pursuing EEC certification or equivalent credential.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Experience in family engagement and public relations.
• Ability to work with diverse families and staff.
• Commitment to YMCA values.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Keep safety of children as a first priority.
• Demonstrate YMCA values with children, staff, and families.
• Use positive and constructive methods of behavior guidance.
• Supervise children and manage transitions for safety and behavior.
• Assist Lead Teacher with classroom design and upkeep of space.
• Assist with assessments and progress reporting.
• Provide well-balanced curriculum supporting social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.
• Utilize developmentally and linguistically appropriate curricula.
• Participate in required staff training and meetings.
• Communicate with parents/guardians daily.
