Summary

The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff, guide teacher assistants, and address parental concerns.

Duties
  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example; encourage team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan age-appropriate activities to promote social, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Maintain communication with parents through discussions, reports, and conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain a healthy classroom environment, including hygiene, safety, and security standards.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers, ensuring adherence to activities and safety standards.
  • Keep accurate records, forms, and files.
  • Engage in personal professional development for continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and ability to work well with others to foster a team environment.
  • Understanding of child development.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Clear background check and health screening.
  • Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or related field with at least 30 credits in ECE.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as walking, handling objects, and communicating at various levels.
  • Visual abilities including seeing up close, at a distance, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
