Job summary

YMCA of Delaware is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to oversee a classroom and deliver safe, developmentally appropriate care. You will support daily routines, diapering, feeding, and social-emotional needs while engaging children in learning activities.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, collaborating with families and staff, and ensuring a clean, safe environment. A range of qualifications from high school to preschool credentials is acceptable, with a focus on early childhood

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and meet one of the listed options for qualification.
• Complete physical and TB screening within 30 days of hire.
• Criminal, child abuse and adult abuse background checks as required.
• Proficient active listening to understand needs of children and parents.
• Ability to supervise and care for a large group of children in a classroom.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children, classroom, and activities with safe, developmentally appropriate practices.
• Provide daily care including diapering, toileting, feeding, supporting social/emotional needs.
• Encourage engagement in classroom activities and transitions.
• Implement positive behavior management techniques.
• Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities to promote learning.
• Observe and document children's progress and development.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, administration, and parents to foster collaboration.
• Ensure facility and equipment are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Maintain required program documentation including attendance and meal counts.
• Attend family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and professional development.
