Qualifications:

Required:Must obtain or possess a current Substitute Certificate or a Teacher Certificate prior to start date. Required to pursue and obtain MANDT Certification at the first available opportunity. This position requires some physical strength and agility, including: the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; the ability to sit on the floor with children; the ability to kneel, stoop, and crawl; and the ability to push/pull children in wagons and strollers.

Terms of Employment:9 Month

Eligible for emergency telework:With Supervisor approval

Purpose: Supports students impacted by cognitive, behavioral, and/or learning disabilities so that each student can access the highest quality education. Assists in teaching, tends to the needs of students, and collects data in order to meet educational goals. Works with the classroom teacher to provide accommodations, tailor lesson plans, and monitor student progress. Supervises, guides, and assists students in their daily activities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
  • To "telework" when requested by the District.
  • Provides direct support to students by working with students individually, in small groups, whole groups or learning centers as guided with specific instructions by the classroom teacher.
  • Assists in the preparation and/or development of instructional activities and materials.
  • Assists the teacher in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom environment by keeping materials and equipment sanitized and organized.
  • Assists and maintains data records of attendance, behaviors, performance and goals and objectives as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Utilizes classroom technology, adaptive devices and equipment to support student learning.
  • Monitors individuals and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, hallways, playground, field trips, home visits, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Implements current behavior management strategies as directed by the classroom teacher and program guidelines.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • May assist with toileting, diapering, dressing, hygieneand in appropriate cases, with medical assistance.
  • Works cooperatively with students, classroom teachers, administration, specialists and other special education staff while performing assigned duties andresponsibilities.
  • Attend all early childhood in-service trainings as requested.
  • Other assigned duties.
